Whoopi Goldberg and Kris Jenner: Poise (Speaking out for LBL, Light Bladder Leakage)

I will admit, I was a little thrown off when I initially saw the commercial about female incontinence with Whoopi Goldberg in it. It was a pleasant surprise. I wasn’t surprised to see Whoopi Goldberg in a commercial. I think I was slow to realize the topic of the commercial in the first portion of it, but quickly realized it was about female incontinence, or Light Bladder Leakage (LBL), a topic not widely discussed in public, much less in a national commercial! And so, I saw the commercial a few more times and realized how nice it was to see. Like any other medical, psychological, emotional or other type of issue or disease that may be slightly taboo or mildly or majorly embarrassing to talk about, I was happy that Whoopi, and Poise, the company of female products for LBL, were making inroads to an open discussion.

According to Poise, LBL affects 1 in 3 women, regardless of age, ethnicity, or any other category. Whoopi explains it in detail on the Poise website:

If you watched Keeping Up With the Kardashians tonight, you know that Kris Jenner has also joined forces with Poise in order to bring awareness to LBL. It was an issue mentioned in several episodes of the show, but when Kris finally went to get it checked out by her doctor, it opened the door for her to share the issue with viewers and also know that it is something that can be helped and even often times prevented. And we all know what a savvy businesswoman Kris is! She was able to turn the situation into a business venture when she reached out to Poise and instantly became the latest spokesperson for Poise and LBL!

Kris Jenner also addresses LBL on the Poise website:

According to Poise’s website, 1 out of 3 women are affected by LBL, which means a total of approximately 40 million – more than enough women to finally get involved in the dialogue!

  1. To compare Kris Jenner to Rosie the Riveter is an insult to women everywhere. I don’t think Rosie would allow her children to use the “F” word frequently especially in front of children; allow an explicit sex tape of her daughter to hit the Internet; promote anything, in any manner, for a buck; or become, as her own daughter Khloe called her “a fame whore.” If this is the image you want your company to portray, fine. It’s your company. Neither I however, nor any of my friends, will EVER purchase your products. It’s not the kind of image of women that we choose to support.
