Merry Christmas to all!
Do you remember what it was like to be a child during Christmas? Once the family gathered, you spent quality time, went to church, and overall had a chance to connect with your loved ones to build memories? As a child, you also got very excited about what Santa was going to bring!
I am excited to be heading out to help hand out donated gifts to some of the kids who are not in the same situations as other kids are. They are in more challenging situations with their families and while they understand the love and power of family, they too hear the stories of Santa and look for his deliveries in the morning. Some of them wake up to nothing. Looking forward to seeing them smile today after this event!
There was a good turn-out today and there were plenty of kids who were able to be gifted with toys, books, games, small pieces of furniture, stuffed animals and countless other pieces that kids and teens can enjoy! The real gift, I think, was seeing the smiles on their faces…
Kourtney Kardashian’s thoughtful and touching website post about a family who was in a tragic car accident on their way home from a family vacation is the first Featured Celebrity Samaritan on Celebrity Optimist. Kourtney used her platform to relay the story and to help the family raise money for their surviving children, by referring readers of her blog to the children’s trust site. It’s beautiful gestures such as this one, that touch the human spirit and inspire people, including complete strangers, to give back and help others in need. When you take away the what we are and listen to the who we are, the common denominator is the human experience.
To learn more about the Berry family and to donate to their children’s trust, news sources are directing people to the website, www.theberrychildren.org and letting them know they can also donate directly to: Joshua and Robin Berry Children’s Trust, send to the trust in care of the Bank of Texas, 510 Bering Drive, 5th floor; Houston 77057.
Thank you to Kourtney.
Ryan Seacrest is arguably the busiest man in showbiz. (I honestly am not sure when he gets to sleep!) Along with that unequivocal work ethic comes a heart of gold. One of his latest projects includes the support of his family – and not from the sidelines. Along with his parents and sister, Ryan was able to launch his leading initiative with the Ryan Seacrest Foundation, with a series of broadcast media centers, called The Voice. His foundation, which is “dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for seriously ill and injured children through unique programs that utilize multimedia and interactive platforms to enlighten, entertain and educate,” will place these media centers in pediatric hospitals with the intention that it will contribute to boosting the esprit de corps among patients and caretakers alike.
This past spring, the foundation’s website, http://www.ryanseacrestfoundation.org, posted a video about The Voice:
With so much on his plate, Ryan is no stranger to sharing his figurative meal with others. This initiative offers a new niche of opportunity for these children to feel loved and inspired while they recover, transition, and sometimes handle heavy responsibilities; all while being children. Now, thanks in part to Ryan’s foundation, they will also have a “voice”.
